Dialogues in Taraclia: Development of tools for strengthening interethnic relations

The Institute for European Politics based in Berlin (IEP), in partnership with the Institute for European Policies and Reforms (IPRE) and the Institute for Strategic Initiatives (IPIS) on April 12th organized the second local dialogue in Taraclia in the framework of the project “Promoting civil society and interethnic dialogue in the Republic of Moldova in the context of the EU association process (CIVID)”. Iulian Groza, Executive Director at IPRE, welcomed everyone in his opening remarks. Viktoria Palm, IEP project manager, talked about the goals and objectives of the project. At the same time, Maria Paslari, the rector of the “Grigorii Ţambalac” University in Taraclia, which hosted the event, spoke about the Bulgarian minority in the region, as well as about the problems faced by the representatives of this ethnic group. Vera Petuhov, Deputy General Director, Interethnic Relations Agency, presented the main conclusions of their efforts to promote inter-ethnic dialogue. In the second part of the event, the participants were divided into four groups. A facilitator was assigned to each of the four tables, who discussed for 15 minutes one of the following topics: Education and mass media (moderated by Lidia Paslari, journalist, Taraclia); Economic development (moderated by Nicolai Cheles, Co-Coordinator of the Youth Platform for Interethnic Solidarity); Social rights (moderated by Andrei Popov, IPIS); Association Agreement with the European Union (moderated by Vitalie Ponomariov, historian, Cahul). Interethnic Dialogue in Soroca – Problems and Solutions in Strengthening Social Cohesion

The Institute for Strategic Initiatives launched the IPIS Leadership Academy

IPIS hosts public discussion with ethnic communities and influencers

On June 25, IPIS hosted the first public event organized as part of the project “We are Moldova – what do we know about each other,” funded by the US Department of State. The project is part of the IPIS portfolio in the fields of social cohesion and strategic communication. During the consultation, attended by opinion leaders and representatives of ethnic communities in Moldova, we discussed the concept of a series of videos on the ethnic diversity in Moldova. IPIS will produce the videos under a common theme “What Do We Know About Each Other”.

Offline cu reprezentanții mass-media și Șeful Delegației Uniunii Europene în Moldova Pirkka Tapiola

La 13 iulie 2017, Institutul pentru Inițiative Strategice, împreună cu Institutul pentru Politică Europeană din Berlin și Institutul pentru Politici și Reforme Europene (IPRE) au organizat o dezbatere offline cu mass-media și șeful Delegației UE Pirkka Tapiola. La întâlnire s-a discutat despre aspectele cheie și cele mai bune practici europene cu privire la relațiile interetnice. Participanții au identificat mai multe exemple de politici ce ar putea fi incluse într-o agendă comună la acest subiect, precum și principalele divergențe de opinii ce apar în societate atunci când este abordată incluziunea minorităților. La fel, s-a discutat și despre consolidarea identității etniilor din Moldova și valorile care stau la baza acestui proces. Evenimentul a avut loc în cadrul proiectului “ Consolidarea identității naționale în Republica Moldova în contextul Asocierii cu Uniunea Europeană “. Scopul proiectului este de a promova incluziunea socială a minorităților interetnice și identitatea incluzivă. Proiectul include dezbateri publice, întâlniri cu reprezentanții societății civile, a factorilor de decizie din diferite regiuni din Moldova, cluburi de presă și pe final un set de politici și recomandări realizate de experți, care să includă pași și soluții concrete. Proiectul este implementat cu sprijinul financiar al Oficiului Federal pentru Afaceri Externe al Germaniei (Auswärtiges Amt).

Relațiile prietenoase interetnice – baza unui stat funcțional

La 29 mai curent la Chișinău s-a desfășurat Conferința „Identitate Națională şi Societate Incluzivă în Moldova: Probleme Actuale şi Viziuni Comune”, organizată de către Institutul pentru Politici Europene de la Berlin (IEP) în parteneriat cu Institutul pentru Inițiative Strategice (IPIS) și Institutul pentru Politici şi Reforme Europene (IPRE). La eveniment au participat șeful Delegației Uniunii Europene în Republica Moldova Pirkka Tapiola, E. S. Dl Daniel Ioniță – Ambasadorul României în Republica Moldova, E. S. Dl Arthur Michalski – Ambasadorul Poloniei și E.S. Dl Matthias Szilagyi – Ambasadorul Ungariei în Republica Moldova. Ambasadorii prezenți au vorbit despre experiențele europene în problemele legate de identitatea națională și integrarea minorităților în consolidarea statului. Agenda Guvernului și a societății civile privind consolidarea interetnică a statului, toleranța și cooperarea internetnică și principalele obstacole în calea constituirii unei societăți incluzive au fost alte subiectele de interes pentru cei prezenți la Conferință. Printre cei care au împărtășit expriența cu participanții sunt și Michael Scanlan, Șeful Misiunii OSCE în Moldova, Vladimir Țurcan – Președintele Comisiei pentru drepturile omului și relații inter-etnice în ParlamentulRepublicii Moldova, Pascal Bonnard – expert de la Universitatea Saint-Etienne în Franța, Nikolai Oleinik – Președintele comunității ucrainene în Moldova și Michael Sidorov – membru al Consiliului de coordonare al comunităților rusești în Moldova.
